New Soleriq S 9 with medium brightness and smaller LES
With the launch of the Soleriq S 9 a new member will be added to the CoB portfolio of Osram Opto Semiconductors. With a smaller light emitting surface (LES) of only 9.8 mm it further simplifies the design of the optics and enables more compact luminaires to be created. Soleriq S 9 will be available in three different lumen (lm) packages: 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 lm. Besides versions with CRI 80 and CRI 90, the LEDs will also be available in Brilliant White and Brilliant Color for use in high-quality professional lighting applications.
With the new Soleriq S 9 Osram Opto Semiconductors is adding a new version to its well-known Soleriq CoB family. Like its sister CoBs, the Soleriq S 13 and S 19, the Soleriq S 9 features high efficacy of about 140 lm/W and will be available in the high color quality versions of Brilliant Color and Brilliant White.
The Soleriq S 9 completes the CoB portfolio in the form of a version with a small light emitting surface (LES) of 9.8 mm in diameter to the existing Soleriq S 13 and S 19 LEDs. While Soleriq S 19 delivers high light output in the 6,500 lm range from an LES of 19 mm, Soleriq S 13 covers the mid-range of up to 3,250 lm with an LES of 13.5 mm. The three versions of the Soleriq S 9 cover a light output range between 900 lm and 1,850 lm under standard conditions. Their excellent overdriving capabilities produce a light output factor of up to 1.9 when driven at maximum forward current.
With the Soleriq S 9, S 13 and S 19 Osram Opto Semiconductors now offers three different output classes with three different LESs. The Soleriq S range provides customers with a broad product selection covering a wide range of applications from high lumen and high efficacy floodlights to very narrow beam and professional high-quality spotlights. The Soleriq S range can therefore be used for almost any application.

Business jets market projected to become multi-billion sector
China will likely see a demand of 2,300 business jets over the next five years, sending the market scale to $103.5 billion, said Minsheng Financial Leasing and Hurun Research Institute in a joint report.
Such forecasts come despite the ground reality that only 300 business jets operate in the country against a total of 1,420 affordable buyers.
“Business aviation in China has enormous potential,” said Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman of Hurun Report, a study targeted at Asia’s high net-worth individuals, adding that the market demand will increase from 1,750 to 2,300 over the next five years.
Major reasons hindering the purchase include difficulties to locate flight plan approval and landing rights, and being caught under the spotlight amid the anti-corruption drive, according to the 2016 China Business Aviation Special Report.
Among Chinese business jet buyers, time efficiency and sense of independence are factors they value most, added the report.
“China’s business jet market is growing steadily,” said Jean-Michel Jacod, CEO of aviation company Dassault Falcon.
The bullish view also comes as Huren Institute estimates China to have 970 dollar billionaires and 5,600 individuals with net worth over $300 million. The number of billionaires who can afford an average $45 million jet will likely reach 1,850 by the year 2021.
